Proceeds from Down & Derby help to support several local charities including the Bald Ridge Boys Lodge, Eagle Ranch, L.E.A.D.E.R., and the Mentor Me North Georgia.
Through partnership with referring agencies, as well as families, we focus on family reunification and restoration. While at the Lodge, boys receive counseling, mentoring, community support and engage in positive activities. With the help of both State and local support we opened our doors in August of 2008.
The facility, which can house up to 12 residents at a time, has nine bedrooms as well as a recreation room, a study hall, and computers, among other benefits.
Spread out over 270 peaceful acres in the Chestnut Mountain community of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Eagle Ranch helps make life better for children and families going through a crisis. Our unique community includes homes, recreational facilities, and a SACS-accredited school. Boys and girls come to live here, and are given the space and time they need to work through their struggles. Their families stay connected and actively involved during their child’s stay.
Eagle Ranch uses an integrated approach that models homelife, emphasizes education and incorporates multi-faceted counseling. Our aim is for renewal: of the child’s individual purpose and identity; of positive relationships among family members; and of hope for a more promising future for everyone we serve.
L.E.A.D.E.R. is an organization founded by volunteers in August 2000. The purpose of the invention was to reduce the incidence of children being killed on our roads directly related to inadequate driver training. On today’s roads, we lose more children 14 to 24 years of age to automobile accidents than any other cause. This is a major health issue for our young people.
The L.E.A.D.E.R. driving program is located in Cumming, Georgia. The program was initiated by Dr. Michael Hogan, an orthopedic surgeon and developed with a dedicated group of community leaders with guidance and oversight provided by a Board of Directors, consisting of a cross section of recognized leaders from both government and industry.
